About Jonathan Merritt

Jonathan Merritt (B.S. from Liberty University; M.Div from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) is the National Spokesperson for the SBE & CI. As a young faith and culture writer, his work has appeared in national outlets like The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Newsweek's "On Faith" and Relevant, HomeLife, and Charisma magazines. As a voice for young evangelicals, he has been featured by media outlets such as TIME Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, PBS, and ABC World News. He is the son of Dr. James Merritt, former SBC President (2000-2002), and Teresa Merritt. He is currently writing a book on a Christian response to environmental concerns due out in 2010, and he resides outside of Atlanta, GA.
